Full Moon In Aquarius, Wednesday, August 9th, 6:54am EST

I am I
Full Moon In Aquarius, Wednesday, August 9th, 6:54am
From Pisces to Aquarius; Evolution of Consciousness and the Pluto in Leo Generation
Neil Young had this to say during an interview in his new film "Heart of Gold": "I used to feel really big, now I feel really small. When I was 20 I was huge, and now I feel like a leaf floating on a river." It is so appropriate to me that this icon of my youth, a member of the Pluto in Leo generation who intuited and like pied pipers led the world with visions of the new paradigm of the Aquarian Age, should have the words that inspire me with this months full moon newsletter.
We are presently on the cusp between the Piscean and Aquarian Ages. Every 2000 years the rising sign of the chart of humanity shifts to another sign and focus which guides an evolution of consciousness. Each Age is an opportunity to explore and integrate a theme to maturity which in turn prepares us to explore and integrate the next theme. The beginning of the Piscean Age arrived around the time of the birth of Christ. The focus of this Age was redemption through suffering, love and compassion through self sacrifice, and in many ways love of the illusion of Maya, the illusion of separation. Organized religion during this period has been characterized by ownership, exclusivity, divisiveness and separation from Nature. On the other hand, compassion and love for all, as well as ministering to outcasts and the belief in rehabilitation of a lost soul and salvation from suffering were absolutely revolutionary ideals which sought expression during this period.
I imagine that the Piscean Age had their revolutionaries, whose timely visions shifted the world view of humanity, just as we have had the Pluto in Leo generation. Astrologically, this generation is defined by Pluto in Leo and Saturn in aspect to Uranus or simply strong Uranus. These astrological factors, among others, created a generation whose Aquarian visions begged to be grounded in reality (Saturn in aspect to Uranus), whose certainty in the rightness of their ideals was so strong (Pluto in Leo) they called for revolution.
They have often been criticized for the 'self' centered focus of this revolution. The very ideals which revolutionized our thinking during and since that time, such as the importance of individuality, the goodness of diversity and inclusiveness, the sacredness of sex and the body, the outing of the Divine Feminine and compassion, (re)connection with the natural world, eco consciousness, natural healing, etc, seemed to hit a brick wall at a point because this generation seemed to lack the maturity and self discipline, if not the confidence, to see the visions through. As Ken Wilbur, the integrative philosopher, writes, (sic) the revolutionary ideas of the 'me' generation became lost in an ego battle with their parents.
This is important. We’ve had the tendency to limit our ability to manifest the visions because we’re paralyzed by the judgment of the 'self' focus. The Aquarian vision asks us to understand that I am I, the small I makes up the large I. It asks us to recognize the importance of the health of the small I. Leo and Aquarius are polar opposites, yet together define the continuum of love. Leo defines self love while Aquarius defines love for the cosmic whole. In Leo, my concerns are (rightly) investigation of my fiery need for recognition; Leo asks me to figure out what I need to open my heart. Mature Leo, as we've experienced this month, needs to open his heart to his ego weaknesses (where he feels separate and alone) before he can open his heart to the other. He understands that the desire to love himself awakens his desire to love the other. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Aquarius notices with airy detachment that it is a tiny cell of a massive organism. It longs to be whole for the greater good of the organism. It knows that if a cell in this organism is diseased, the organism suffers. It knows that it needs the flourishing creative individual to function.
If we now look at the opportunity of Pluto in Leo, we see that Pluto there was always meant to liberate the collective consciousness from the old paradigm of 'self' sacrifice to the new paradigm of freedom and righteousness of the flourishing individual spirit as integral to the functioning cosmic whole. In other words, each and every one of us is absolutely vital to the functioning of the whole, and it is our divine obligation to love our unique expression as the path to greater wholeness. In some ways, the work of this moon cycle is reflective of the greater work of the whole 2000 year Aquarian Age. We are being asked to reconsider whether self sacrifice actually serves the collective. I am I.
Summary Leo/Aquarius moon cycle
The first part of the work of this moon cycle is to develop a relationship with our ego weaknesses, those parts of us that feel threatened, fragile, alone, weak, powerless, superior, needy, angry, afraid-any part that gets hard and feels separate-to notice that our hearts get hard to ourselves in self loathing or hard in blame towards the other when we're triggered in these places. We're being asked to learn how to notice the signal that we're about to get hard and shut down and instead let the heart vibrate the pain it feels to be separate until there is a shift. The key is to stay soft when we want to get hard. When we do this practice we create a heart bridge between the ego and the higher self and with the other. We awaken Christ consciousness and infinite compassion within ourselves for our ego weaknesses and for all beings. We can only travel this path through the ego desires, so for this reason we must listen to ourselves, value and allow our individual creative spirits to flourish and follow our own path to the heart. It is only in allowing ourselves to feel our great desire to be special that we can open ourselves to where we feel separate. Only I can open my own heart, you cannot do it for me.
The second part of the work brings heart to the collective. Having the experience of opening your own heart to yourself and others grounds you in the certainty of I am I and the understanding that opening your heart is the only solution to healing the whole organism. There is no judgment towards anyone. When you meet a brother or sister in ego pain who is hurting you, you allow your heart to vibrate in the hurt place that feels threatened until you can hold yourself and the other in compassion, because I am I. We can only hear the other when we can hear ourselves. When you are triggered in these ego places, you now take a step back and realize that getting hard hurts I but also hurts I.
So, for the next two days of this full moon and for the duration of this Leo/Aquarius moon cycle at the 23rd, we will have the opportunity to notice how our heart status affects our relationship to ourselves and the other and in consequence, the whole.
Like a systems analyst, we are asked to learn the practice of zooming our focus in and out of the system. We are asked to look first if our hearts are open. Then zoom out to see how our heart status affects the whole. In and out, in and out. I am I.
For this full moon ritual, it might be helpful to explore where in our lives we're still holding onto the paradigm of 'redemption through suffering'. Where in our lives are we stuck feeling that thinking of ourselves harms the other? Consider a situation in your life in which radiant self love, honoring your own needs, has brought you to greater love for the other. It is a good full moon to gather with others and honor your unique expression and notice how it flows better when you honor yourself. Zoom in and out
Much love, blessings, Helen
